Kareena Kapoor, a 'gem' of a star

Actor Kareena Kapoor was seen at a jewellery launch yet again, this time in Kolkata. CNN-IBN correspondent Sougato Mukhopadhyay caught up with this ‘gem’ of a star.

Sougata Mukhopadhyay: Welcome to Kolkata. I believe this is your first visit ever since you came to Kolkata to shoot Yuva?

Kareena Kapoor: Yes. After Yuva I really didn’t get the opportunity to visit Kolkata again. But I have a lot of fond memories of shooting Mani sir's film here. It's one of my most cherished roles.

Sougata Mukhopadhyay: Are you prepared for the bouquets or the brickbats that you might receive after Don hits theatres next week?

Kareena Kapoor: I am not very much responsible because I have a very small role in the film. Basically I am just doing a special appearance in the film.

Sougata Mukhopadhyay: But were you comfortable with the song? Normally we see Kareena Kapoor dominating the screen, but this time you only have a special appearance in a big project.

Kareena Kapoor: The only reason I did the movie was because of the song. This is an iconic song. People will automatically relate the song with me when they hear it in the years to come. So, somewhere I think it will only prove out to be positive and not negative.

Sougata Mukhopadhyay: If you were to be self-critical, now that you have seen both dance performances on-screen how would you rate yourself against Helen?

Kareena Kapoor: I don’t rate and I don’t think I can afford a rating. I think Helen aunty is a legend. I don’t think anybody can match up to her, not just me but even the best of the dancers. I think I have done it in my own way because now I have tried to make it my song. So, I have just tried to add a little touch to it so that people remember it as a Kareena Kapoor song.
